An experienced and qualified Adult Social Worker is required to join a Centralised Safeguarding Triage Team in Essex. This is an important opportunity to support adults who may be experiencing, or at risk of, abuse or neglect, ensuring that concerns are assessed promptly, proportionately and in line with safeguarding legislation and local procedures.
Working as part of a busy, multi-disciplinary service, you will receive and screen safeguarding referrals, gather relevant information and make informed decisions about the most appropriate response. You will complete proportionate safeguarding enquiries, identify risk and protective factors, develop clear risk management plans and ensure that the adult’s voice, wishes and desired outcomes remain central throughout the process.
Your responsibilities will include liaising with adults, families, carers and professionals; coordinating information from partner agencies; undertaking assessments; recording decisions accurately; and making appropriate referrals where further support or specialist intervention is required. You will work collaboratively with health services, police, care providers and other agencies, while promoting strengths-based, person-centred practice and positive risk management.
You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration, with relevant experience in adult safeguarding and statutory social work. A sound understanding of the Care Act 2014, Mental Capacity Act 2005, Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards and safeguarding principles is essential. Experience of triage, screening, risk assessment and working within a fast-paced environment would be highly advantageous.
The successful candidate will be confident making professional decisions, managing competing priorities and communicating sensitively in complex or high-risk situations. You will be organised, resilient and able to produce clear, concise and timely records. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, professional development and achieving positive outcomes for adults is essential. The role may involve hybrid working, subject to service requirements, and will require the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
