An experienced and committed Children’s Social Worker is required to join a Children in Care (CIC) team. The successful candidate will manage a caseload of children and young people who are looked after, ensuring their welfare, safety, development and long-term outcomes remain central to all planning and decision-making. You will build positive relationships with children, young people, families, foster carers and other professionals, providing consistent support and advocating for each child’s needs and wishes.

Responsibilities will include completing assessments, preparing and reviewing care plans, undertaking statutory visits, contributing to permanence planning and progressing appropriate placement and transition arrangements. You will maintain accurate and timely case records, prepare reports for meetings and reviews, and work effectively with education, health, fostering, leaving care and other partner services. The role will involve responding to safeguarding concerns, identifying and managing risk, promoting stability and supporting children to maintain meaningful relationships wherever this is safe and appropriate.

Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with the relevant professional regulator, together with experience of working with children and families in a statutory social care setting. Experience within a Children in Care, child protection or looked-after children service is highly desirable, as is a sound understanding of relevant legislation, statutory guidance and care planning requirements. You should be confident working independently, prioritising competing demands and making evidence-based decisions, while also contributing positively to a team environment. Strong communication, assessment, analytical and report-writing skills are essential. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, participation, corporate parenting principles and improving outcomes for children and young people is expected. A valid driving licence and access to suitable transport may be required for visits and meetings.
