We are seeking a qualified Adults’ Social Worker to join a busy Safeguarding Team supporting adults who may be at risk of abuse, neglect or exploitation. You will work with individuals, families, carers and partner agencies to promote safety, wellbeing, choice and independence. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practitioner who is confident managing complex safeguarding concerns and committed to delivering person-centred, strengths-based practice.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking safeguarding enquiries and assessments, identifying and managing risk, developing proportionate protection plans and reviewing outcomes. You will maintain accurate, timely case records and produce clear reports, while ensuring that adults are fully involved in decisions about their care and support. The role will involve working in line with the Care Act and relevant safeguarding procedures, applying professional judgement in situations involving mental capacity, domestic abuse, self-neglect, financial abuse and other forms of harm. You will also contribute to multi-agency meetings, strategy discussions and risk management arrangements, working closely with health services, police, housing, care providers and voluntary organisations.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have recent experience in adult social care, safeguarding or statutory social work, together with a sound understanding of legislation, policy and professional standards. Strong assessment, analytical, communication and report-writing skills are essential, as is the ability to manage a demanding caseload and make defensible decisions under pressure. You will be expected to work collaboratively, demonstrate professional curiosity and maintain a commitment to equality, inclusion and anti-discriminatory practice. A current enhanced DBS check, satisfactory references and evidence of eligibility to work in the UK will be required. The role may include visits to service users and partner agencies across the local area, so flexibility and the ability to travel when required are important.
