We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Unaccompanied Asylum-Seeking Children (UASC) Team in Birmingham. This vital role involves providing high-quality support and guidance to unaccompanied minors, ensuring their safety and well-being while facilitating their integration into the local community. You will work closely with a multidisciplinary team, social workers, and external agencies to deliver tailored care plans that meet the unique needs of each child.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading assessments and reviews for unaccompanied minors, ensuring compliance with local and national policies.
- Providing expert advice and support to social workers and other team members in complex case management.
- Developing and implementing care plans that promote the best interests of each child.
- Building strong relationships with children, families, and stakeholders to foster trust and collaboration.
- Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions and making necessary adjustments.
The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:
- A relevant social work qualification (e.g., DipSW, CQSW, or equivalent).
- Registered with Social Work England.
- Significant experience in child protection and working with asylum-seeking children.
- Strong knowledge of relevant legislation and policies related to UASC.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to care.
