In this key position, you will lead the Independent Review Officer (IRO) conference process, ensuring that children's voices are heard and their needs are prioritized in care planning and reviews. Your key responsibilities will include:

Facilitating IRO conferences and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Advocating for children’s rights and best interests during care planning processes. Monitoring the quality of care provided to children and making recommendations for improvements. Providing training and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care system. Collaborating with local authorities and stakeholders to promote best practices in child welfare.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Extensive experience in child protection and looked-after children processes. Strong understanding of relevant legislation and statutory guidance. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and families. Proven leadership and organizational skills, with a commitment to continuous professional development.

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) Conference Chair to join our dynamic team within the Department for Education (DfE). This pivotal role requires a passionate individual committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. As the IRO Conference Chair, you will facilitate and lead multi-agency meetings to ensure that children's voices are heard and their needs are met in accordance with statutory requirements.

Key responsibilities include:

Chairing Child Protection Conferences, Looked After Children Reviews, and other relevant meetings to ensure effective planning and decision-making. Working collaboratively with social workers, families, and other professionals to develop and monitor care plans. Ensuring compliance with legislation and best practices, providing guidance and support to teams. Advocating for the rights of children and young people, ensuring their views are central to the decision-making process. Conducting quality assurance of case files and contributing to service improvement initiatives.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:
