About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join a dynamic Assessment Team within a UK-based local authority. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in safeguarding children, assessing their needs, and ensuring timely interventions that promote positive outcomes for children and families.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality assessments of children and families, identifying risks and needs in accordance with statutory guidance and best practice.
  • Undertake Section 17 (Child in Need) and Section 47 (Child Protection) assessments, ensuring that children's welfare remains paramount.
  • Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners, including health professionals, educators, and law enforcement, to ensure a holistic approach to assessments and interventions.
  • Develop and implement robust care plans, ensuring that recommendations align with the best interests of the child.
  • Attend court proceedings and provide well-evidenced reports when required.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring compliance with UK legislation and local authority policies.
  • Participate in regular supervision, team meetings, and ongoing professional development opportunities.

Essential Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker (Degree or equivalent in Social Work).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • A minimum of two years' post-qualifying experience within children's services, preferably in an assessment team or frontline safeguarding role.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children, and the Care Act 2014.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, managing competing priorities.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle (desirable but not essential, depending on location).
