Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Plymouth is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team within the Qualified Social Work field. In this pivotal role, you will ensure that the voices of children in care are heard and that their needs are met through effective advocacy and oversight of care plans.
As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting regular reviews of care plans to ensure they meet the needs of children and young people. Facilitating meetings with children, families, and professionals to promote the best outcomes for children in care. Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements. Providing independent oversight and challenge to local authority decisions affecting children. Developing and maintaining effective working relationships with a range of stakeholders.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. Significant experience working with children and families, particularly in a child protection or looked-after children setting. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children and diverse stakeholders.
