Swindon Borough Council is seeking an Experienced Social Worker to join our dynamic and dedicated Children with Disabilities Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of a forward-thinking service committed to safeguarding and empowering disabled children and young people.

🔹 About the Role:

As part of Swindon's Disabled Children's Safeguarding and Support Team, you'll work in a co-located, multi-agency setting at the Saltway Centre. Our team delivers holistic, child-centred services, recognising that disabled children are at greater risk of abuse and require tailored, specialist support.

In this role, you'll:

Carry a caseload of children and young people with disabilities

Undertake safeguarding assessments, reviews, and plans

Work closely with multi-agency partners to ensure effective support

Champion best practice and advocate for the rights and wellbeing of disabled children

🔹 What We Offer:

£40 per hour (via umbrella company)

Hybrid working - office-based 2-3 days per week

Co-located working environment with multi-agency professionals

Supportive and motivated team with specialist knowledge

£100 per week flat-rate travel/accommodation allowance for workers based 50+ miles from Swindon

🔹 What We're Looking For:

Qualified Social Worker with Social Work England registration

Substantial post-qualified experience in children's services, ideally in disability and safeguarding

A reflective, resilient practitioner with a child-focused approach

Excellent communication, assessment, and partnership-working skills

The Role:

Swindon Borough Council now have an opportunity for an Experienced Social Worker & an Advanced Social Worker to join the Children with Disabilities Team. In the Disabled Children's Team, we are working to ensure disabled children in Swindon are appropriately safeguarded and supported to achieve their full potential, we use current research and innovative practice to ensure we achieve these goals.

The Disabled Children's safeguarding and support team is co-located at the Saltway Centre with multi agency partners. This means that we are able to provide a holistic service to disabled children, young people and their families. In Swindon we recognise that Disabled Children are more likely to be abused than their non-disabled peers, and have created a bespoke service comprised of highly motivated and specialist social workers with experience in both safeguarding and disability.

Please note that candidates living 50+ miles from Swindon are entitled to claim a flat rate of £100 per week to use towards either accommodation or mileage.

To be considered, it is essential that you have a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work Degree or Diploma in Social Work) and full Social Work England registration as well as recent or significant relevant experience in a similar role.

*Please note this vacancy is subject to the Pledge Agreement which stipulates:

4 weeks' notice period may be required under DFE guidelines.Agency workers must have complete 2 years post AYSE (3 years PQ total), before they can be considered for agency roles under the DFE guidelines.
