We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Supervising Social Worker (SSW) to join our Fostering Team in Birmingham. In this vital role, you will be responsible for overseeing and supporting foster carers, ensuring the highest standards of care for children and young people. You will work collaboratively with local authorities, children’s services, and other stakeholders to promote positive outcomes and foster placements that are safe, nurturing, and conducive to growth.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Supervising and supporting foster carers through regular visits and assessments.
  • Conducting initial and ongoing training for foster carers to enhance their skills and knowledge.
  • Completing comprehensive assessments and reports for foster placements.
  • Collaborating with social work teams and external agencies to ensure the welfare of children in care.
  • Participating in court proceedings and providing expert testimony as required.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized Social Work qualification (BA/MA Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a social work setting, preferably within fostering or children’s services.
  • Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make informed decisions.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach to working with families.
