Wigan Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Team Manager to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) Team. This pivotal role involves supporting the Team Manager in overseeing the daily operations of the MASH, ensuring that vulnerable children and families receive timely and effective support. You will work collaboratively with a range of agencies to safeguard children and promote their welfare, helping to create a safer community for all.

Key responsibilities include:

Assisting in the management and supervision of social workers and other staff within the MASH team. Conducting assessments and reviews to ensure compliance with safeguarding policies and procedures. Providing expert guidance and support to staff on complex cases, ensuring high standards of practice. Collaborating with partner agencies to share information and coordinate responses to safeguarding concerns. Contributing to the development and implementation of training and development programs for team members.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A Social Work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. A minimum of 3 years’ post-qualification experience in social work, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role. Strong knowledge of legislation and best practices in child protection and safeguarding. Excellent communication, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
