Join our dedicated team as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) in the Emergency Duty Service based in Manchester. This role is critical in providing immediate assessments and interventions for individuals experiencing mental health crises. You will collaborate closely with various agencies to ensure the safety and wellbeing of vulnerable individuals, making a significant impact in our community.
Your key responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive mental health assessments in emergency situations.
- Making informed decisions regarding the necessity for detention under the Mental Health Act.
- Providing immediate support and guidance to individuals and their families.
- Collaborating with police, social services, and healthcare professionals to ensure a coordinated response.
- Documenting assessments and interventions accurately and timely.
To excel in this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
- Current registration as a Social Worker, Nurse, or Occupational Therapist with relevant AMHP training.
- Proven experience in mental health settings, particularly in crisis intervention.
- Strong understanding of the Mental Health Act and related legislation.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work under pressure.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
