Senior Social Worker - Safeguarding Team - Lewisham

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Social Worker to join our Safeguarding Team in Lewisham. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for safeguarding vulnerable children and adults, ensuring their welfare is prioritized and protected. You will work collaboratively with families, multi-agency partners, and community organizations to assess needs, develop intervention plans, and provide ongoing support to those in crisis.

Your key responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and adults in need of safeguarding services.
  • Developing and implementing care plans in accordance with legislative frameworks and best practice guidelines.
  • Providing supervision and support to junior social workers and trainees, fostering a culture of professional development.
  • Engaging with families, advocating for their needs, and facilitating access to necessary resources and services.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local policies.
  • Participating in multi-disciplinary meetings and contributing to strategic planning for safeguarding initiatives.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Significant experience in safeguarding children and adults, preferably within a local authority setting.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse populations.
  • Proven ability to work effectively under pressure and manage complex cases.
