Are you an experienced Social Worker looking to make a meaningful impact within the Family Court Advisory and Support Service (Cafcass)? We are seeking skilled and resilient practitioners to join an established team supporting children, families, and the courts.
The Role
As an FCA Agency Social Worker, you will deliver high-quality social work services focused on safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children within the family justice system.
You will:
- Assess and analyse court applications relating to child protection and welfare
- Prepare detailed, high-quality Section 7 (s7) reports (Private Law role)
- Provide clear, evidence-based recommendations to the courts
- Engage directly with children and families, ensuring the child's voice is central
- Advocate for children's best interests within court proceedings
- Influence parents and professionals to adopt child-focused approaches
- Work collaboratively with courts, Local Authorities, and partner agencies
- Deliver oral evidence in court to a high standard
- Manage a varied caseload and meet tight deadlines
Essential Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker (SW)
- Registered with Social Work England (SWE)
- Experience in Private Law or Public Law
- Right to Work in the UK
Desirable Experience
- Minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience
- Strong court experience and understanding of family justice processes
- High-quality assessment, report writing, and analytical skills
- Proven ability to provide clear and confident oral evidence
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and organisational skills
- Ability to work autonomously and prioritise effectively
Additional Information
- Monthly office attendance required
- Interviews conducted via Microsoft Teams (2-stage panel)
- Induction is a blend of remote and office-based learning
