SEND Manager

Location: West Berkshire
Rate: £61ph

Working Pattern: Hybrid Working (40% office based)
Flexible Hours: Between 7:00am and 9:00pm where possible

Caritas Recruitment is currently recruiting for an experienced SEND Manager to join West Berkshire Council.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled SEND professional to play a key leadership role in managing the Local Authority's statutory SEND responsibilities and driving improvements across the Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) process.

The Role

As SEND Manager, you will oversee a designated SEND phase, ensuring statutory duties are delivered efficiently and effectively while keeping children, young people and families at the centre of decision-making.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing the delivery of statutory SEND services within your phase area
  • Leading and supporting a team responsible for EHCP assessments and reviews
  • Working closely with the Head of SEND and wider management team to enhance SEND service delivery
  • Supporting the continuous improvement of the EHCP process
  • Managing mediation and SEND Tribunal cases
  • Ensuring compliance with the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation
  • Building positive relationships with schools, settings, health professionals and families
  • Championing person-centred approaches and positive outcomes for children and young people with SEND

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • Significant SEND experience within a Local Authority setting
  • Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and relevant legislation
  • Experience managing EHCP processes
  • Experience of Tribunal and mediation casework
  • Excellent leadership and stakeholder management skills
  • A commitment to delivering high-quality, family-centred services
