Cardiff is seeking a Principal Social Worker to lead our Multi-Agency Safeguarding and Early Help Hub. In this pivotal role, you will provide strategic direction and oversight to ensure the delivery of high-quality social work services aimed at safeguarding vulnerable children and families. Your leadership will shape our approach to early intervention, fostering collaboration across agencies to promote the well-being and safety of those we serve.
Key responsibilities include:
Leading and managing a team of social workers and support staff, ensuring effective case management and safeguarding practices. Developing and implementing policies and procedures that enhance service delivery and compliance with statutory requirements. Collaborating with multi-agency partners to coordinate services and interventions for children and families in need. Providing expert guidance and support to social workers in complex case assessments and decision-making. Monitoring and evaluating service outcomes, ensuring continuous improvement and best practice in safeguarding.To be considered for this role, you must hold a relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Care Wales. Proven experience in safeguarding and working within a multi-agency framework is essential. Strong leadership and communication skills, alongside the ability to engage and inspire a team, will be crucial for your success in this position.

Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and needs. Developing and implementing care plans in collaboration with families and other professionals. Working closely with health, education, and law enforcement agencies to ensure a coordinated response. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date case records in accordance with local and national guidelines. Providing support and guidance to families, empowering them to make positive changes.To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Care Wales. Proven experience in children's social work, preferably within a MASH or similar setting. Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure.
