Senior Social Worker | SCP Team | Middlesbrough Borough Council
Caritas Recruitment is supporting Middlesbrough Borough Council in the recruitment of highly experienced Senior Social Workers to join their Safeguarding and Child Protection (SCP) Team.
This is an excellent opportunity to join a committed and supportive service dedicated to protecting vulnerable children and young people and achieving positive outcomes for families. The SCP Team works with children who are subject to Child Protection Plans, Child in Need Plans, and Public Law Outline processes, ensuring that children remain at the centre of all decision-making.

About the Role

As a Senior Social Worker within the SCP Team, you will:
  • Manage a caseload of complex child protection and safeguarding cases.
  • Complete high-quality assessments and formulate effective intervention plans.
  • Undertake direct work with children, young people, and their families.
  • Lead and contribute to Child Protection Conferences, Core Groups, and multi-agency meetings.
  • Work within court proceedings and Public Law Outline processes where required.
  • Build strong partnerships with education, health, police, and other safeguarding agencies.
  • Ensure accurate recording and timely completion of statutory reports and assessments.
  • Promote positive outcomes and permanence planning for children and young people.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Social Work England Registration.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Strong safeguarding and child protection experience.
  • Experience managing complex cases and working within statutory frameworks.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical, and risk management skills.
  • Confidence in multi-agency working and court-related practice.
  • A child-centred approach and commitment to achieving the best outcomes for children.

  • Location: Middlesbrough House, TS1 2RH
  • Positions Available: 7
  • Hours: 37 hours per week

Pay Rates

  • PAYE: £24.95 per hour
  • Umbrella/Ltd: £31.74 per hour
