Senior Social Worker | Pre-Birth Team | Middlesbrough Borough Council
Caritas Recruitment is supporting Middlesbrough Borough Council in the recruitment of 2 experienced Senior Social Workers to join their dedicated Pre-Birth Team.
This is an exciting opportunity to work within a specialist service focused on safeguarding and supporting unborn babies, vulnerable children, and expectant families. The team works proactively with parents and partner agencies to assess risk, plan interventions, and ensure children have the best possible start in life.

About the Role

As a Senior Social Worker within the Pre-Birth Team, you will:
  • Undertake high-quality pre-birth assessments and planning.
  • Work closely with expectant parents to identify strengths, risks, and support needs.
  • Manage complex safeguarding and child protection cases.
  • Develop and implement robust plans that promote the welfare and safety of unborn babies and young children.
  • Work collaboratively with health professionals, midwives, hospitals, and wider safeguarding partners.
  • Attend and contribute to strategy discussions, child protection conferences, and legal planning meetings.
  • Ensure all case recordings and assessments are completed to a high standard and within statutory timescales.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Social Work England Registration.
  • Right to Work in the UK.
  • Significant post-qualified experience within Children's Social Care.
  • Experience of child protection, court work, assessments, and safeguarding.
  • Strong risk assessment and analytical skills.
  • The ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.
  • Confidence in managing complex and sensitive cases.

Assignment Details

  • Location: Middlesbrough House, TS1 2RH
  • Positions Available: 2
  • Hours: 37 hours per week

Pay Rates

  • PAYE: £24.95 per hour
  • Umbrella/Ltd: £31.74 per hour
