Reference: 666147

We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join an Assessment Team supporting children, young people and their families. You will undertake high-quality assessments of children’s needs, risks and circumstances, ensuring that their welfare remains central to all decision-making. Working within statutory frameworks, you will respond to referrals, complete timely assessments, identify safeguarding concerns and develop effective plans that promote safety, stability and positive outcomes.

Your responsibilities will include undertaking child protection enquiries, contributing to strategy discussions and multi-agency meetings, preparing reports for legal and professional forums, and maintaining accurate, comprehensive case records. You will work closely with families, schools, health professionals, police and partner agencies, building constructive relationships while maintaining professional boundaries. The role will also involve identifying appropriate support and services, reviewing progress, escalating concerns where necessary and ensuring that children’s voices, wishes and feelings are fully reflected in assessments and plans.

You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the relevant professional regulator. Experience of working with children and families in a statutory or safeguarding setting is desirable, together with a sound understanding of child protection procedures, relevant legislation and strengths-based practice. You should be confident managing a varied caseload, making evidence-based decisions, working under pressure and communicating clearly in writing and in person. A commitment to equality, professional development and collaborative practice is essential. The ability to travel to meet children and families across the service area may be required, so a valid driving licence and access to suitable transport would be advantageous.
