Children's MASH Social Worker

Location: Somerset (Bridgwater)
Working Pattern: Hybrid - 2 to 3 days in the office and 2 to 3 days working from home (following induction period)
Team: Family Front Door / Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH)

About the Role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Children's MASH Social Worker to join a Family Front Door service in Bridgwater.
The Children's Services function is committed to promoting and ensuring the safety, wellbeing and development of children and young people. As part of the Family Front Door and MASH team, you will play a vital role in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time.
This is a fast-paced and rewarding role where you will be responsible for triaging referrals from professionals and families, gathering and analysing information, assessing risk, and making clear evidence-based recommendations. You will work closely with partner agencies to ensure children receive appropriate and timely interventions.

Key Responsibilities

  • Effectively triage and evaluate all incoming referrals relating to children and families.
  • Gather, analyse and assess information from multiple sources to make informed recommendations.
  • Undertake assessments relating to Children in Need (Section 17) and children at risk of significant harm requiring Section 47 enquiries.
  • Participate in Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) discussions and decision-making processes.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies to ensure robust safeguarding arrangements.
  • Provide clear, balanced and evidence-based professional opinions.
  • Identify appropriate support pathways, including Early Help and Children's Social Care services.
  • Maintain a child-centred approach, ensuring the best interests of children remain at the forefront of all decision-making.
  • Demonstrate strong analytical thinking, professional curiosity and reflective practice.
  • Promote equality, diversity, inclusion, health, safety and wellbeing in all areas of practice.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:
  • Social Work England registration.
  • Qualified Social Worker status.
  • Experience within Children's Social Care, MASH, Duty & Assessment, Front Door or Safeguarding services.
  • Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, including Sections 17 and 47.
  • Excellent assessment, analytical and risk management skills.
  • Experience working within multi-agency environments.
  • The ability to make sound decisions within tight timescales.
  • Strong communication and partnership-working abilities.
