Children's Front Door, Exeter & East Devon

We're seeking experienced social workers to support our children and young people across Devon.

Located in Exeter & East, our Childrens Front Door is the central resource for the whole of Devon receiving all safeguarding and child protection enquiries. The Front Door is staffed with professionals from a range of agencies including police, health, education, probation. These professionals share information to ensure early identification of potential significant harm, and trigger interventions to prevent further harm or to safeguard children's welfare.

The Front Door staff gather and review information from a range of agencies and use this to decide the most appropriate way to support a family and ensure the needs of children are met. Where appropriate, the Front Door team is able to immediately trigger a response, the emphasis being on interventions to the child or young person and their family to prevent harm. Working together in this way ensures that the agencies are sharing information and can respond to a child's needs quickly and efficiently.

Working in this manner has resulted in more effective and earlier identification of vulnerable children. Ensuring their intervention is not only timely but also proportionate to their needs. It also improves communication between professionals. A degree of remote working is offered with an expectation to work in the office 2 days per week minimum.

Devon's Front Door journey.

Devon's Children's Front Door has been on a journey of improvement, marked by significant progress over the past eleven months. Our focus has been on fostering a culture that priorities the safety and well-being of children and families, streamlining services for easier access, and enhancing collaboration with partner agencies. We take pride in our dedicated workforce and the positive impact we've made on families in Devon.

Up to £38 per hour depending on experience. For interim staff, a agreed weekly agency accommodation / commuter travel allowance of up to £150 per week is offered for those living 50 miles or more from their work base. These claims to be evidenced with receipts.

A degree of remote working is offered with an expectation to work in the office 2 days per week minimum.
