Position: Locum Social Worker - Adolescent Team
Location: Jersey
Pay Rate: Up to £50.00 per hour
Hours: 37 hours per week
Contract: Temporary
Job Purpose:
As a Locum Social Worker within the Adolescent Team, you will work to safeguard and support children and young people at risk of, or affected by, child exploitation and missing episodes. You will provide specialist advice, intervention, and multi-agency collaboration to reduce harm and improve outcomes for vulnerable children and their families.
This role focuses on contextual safeguarding, addressing risks outside of the home, including exploitation, peer influences, and community environments. You will be working within a small, dedicated team and collaborating with other agencies to map children's associations and activities on the island and beyond. Additionally, you will support interventions for children on the edge of care to prevent family breakdown and improve stability.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide specialist interventions to children and young people at risk of exploitation and missing episodes.
Work closely with multi-agency teams to identify and mitigate risks outside the home.
Support contextual safeguarding efforts, mapping associations and activities across Jersey.
Deliver trauma-informed interventions and practice.
Support children on the edge of care, preventing family breakdown where possible.
Mentor and model best practices to colleagues such as family support workers and youth workers.
Work flexibly, including evenings and weekends, as required.
Essential Experience & Skills:
Experience in child protection, safeguarding, and exploitation-related roles.
Strong understanding of the contextual safeguarding approach and risks outside of the home.
Proven experience in direct work with children and young people facing external risks.
Ability to build rapport and establish trust with vulnerable children and families.
Strong assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.
Effective teamwork within multi-agency environments.
Crisis management and problem-solving abilities.
Commitment to trauma-informed practice and language.
Desirable Experience & Qualifications:
Experience working with missing children and/or contextual safeguarding approaches.
Specialist training in child exploitation or trauma-informed practice.
Knowledge of evidence-based interventions for children, young people, and families.
