Lewisham Council is seeking a dynamic Social Worker to join our Fostering Assessment Team. In this role, you will play a crucial part in assessing and supporting foster carers, ensuring that children in care receive the best possible care and support. As a member of the Fostering Assessment Team, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments of prospective foster carers, including home visits and interviews. Writing detailed reports that reflect the assessment process and recommendations. Working closely with children, families, and external agencies to ensure the best interests of the child are prioritized. Providing ongoing support and supervision to foster carers throughout the fostering process. Participating in panel meetings and presenting assessments to the fostering panel.To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Current registration with Social Work England. Demonstrable experience in fostering or children’s social work. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse groups.
