Pay Rate: £37.00 per hour
Cafcass is currently seeking an experienced Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join their team on a temporary agency basis. This role is based in Brighton with responsibility for cases across Sussex and Surrey.
As an FCA, you will play a critical role in representing children's best interests within private family law proceedings, undertaking safeguarding assessments, preparing high‑quality reports for the court, and making clear, evidence‑based recommendations.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake safeguarding and risk assessments in private law casesPrepare and present written and verbal evidence for courtWork directly with children and families to ascertain wishes and feelingsLiaise effectively with courts, local authorities, and partner agenciesManage a caseload in line with Cafcass standards and timescales
Essential Criteria:
Social Work England registrationRight to Work in the UKQualified Social Worker with post‑qualifying experiencePrevious experience working as a Family Court Adviser or within Cafcass/private law proceedingsStrong court report writing and analytical skills
Desirable Criteria:
Experience covering Sussex and/or Surrey court areas

Caritas Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Adult Social Worker to join East Sussex County Council's Neighbourhood Support Team on a locum basis. This is a community‑focused role covering rural areas across Lewes and North Wealden, delivering Care Act assessments and reviews to support adults to live as independently as possible.
Due to the nature of the role, the successful locum must be a car user to complete community visits.
The Role
You will work within the Neighbourhood Support Team, carrying out statutory social work duties under the Care Act 2014, supporting adults, carers and families within the community. The postholder will manage a varied caseload, including assessments, reviews, safeguarding work and outcome‑focused support planning.
Key ResponsibilitiesUndertake a range of statutory social work tasks including:Care Act assessments and reviewsAnalysis, support planning and commissioning servicesAssessing and managing riskInvestigation of adult safeguarding concernsIdentify and appropriately report adult safeguarding concerns, liaising with partner agencies and acting as Investigating Officer when delegatedApply relevant legal frameworks, statutory guidance and departmental policies to support outcome‑based planning for adultsWork directly with adults in need, carers, families and communities to:Support informed decision‑makingEmpower individuals to express needs and participate in planningWork collaboratively with partner agencies to help adults build community support networks and maintain independenceMaintain high‑quality case recording and prepare reports for panels and court where requiredContribute to the learning and development of students, newly qualified social workers and colleagues, including mentoring and group supervision
