Children's Social Worker - Families First, Trafford

Caritas Recruitment is working with Trafford Council to recruit a permanent Families First Social Worker based within their Children's Services.
About the Role
This opportunity sits within Families First, a frontline service responsible for duty, assessment and Child in Need (CIN) work. The service plays a key role in ensuring children and families receive the right support at the right time, preventing escalation wherever possible.
You will work across one of four locality teams (North, West, South or Central) and be responsible for:
Undertaking duty and assessment workSupporting families through the Child in Need processCompleting high-quality, child-focused assessments and plansIdentifying risk and making informed threshold decisionsWorking in partnership with multi-agency professionalsApplying strengths-based, relational practice to achieve sustainable outcomes
This is a fast-paced service with a strong focus on early intervention, effective decision-making, and improving outcomes for children and families.
About YouSocial Work qualification and SWE registrationMinimum 3 years' permanent post-qualified experienceExperience in duty, assessment, and CIN workStrong understanding of thresholds, risk, and statutory processesConfident decision-maker with strong analytical skillsFull UK driving licence and access to a vehicleEnhanced DBS (Children's Barred List) requiredAbout Trafford
