Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Liverpool City Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team. This role is pivotal in ensuring that the voices of children and young people are heard, and their rights are upheld within the care system. If you are committed to advocacy, safeguarding, and promoting the welfare of children, we want to hear from you!

As a Children's IRO, your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting independent reviews of care plans for children and young people, ensuring their needs and wishes are central to the process. Facilitating and chairing review meetings, promoting positive engagement with children, families, and professionals. Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring timely actions are taken to address any identified issues. Providing expert advice and support to social workers and other professionals involved in the care of children. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with statutory requirements and best practices.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in children's social work, particularly in a reviewing or quality assurance capacity. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with children, families, and professionals. Excellent analytical and report-writing skills, with a keen attention to detail.
