We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our team in Stockport. As an IRO, you will play a crucial role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people in care by ensuring that their voices are heard and their best interests are at the forefront of decision-making processes.
Key responsibilities and duties:
Conducting reviews of care plans and making recommendations to improve outcomes for children in care Chairing meetings with key stakeholders, including social workers, foster carers, and other professionals involved in the child's care Providing independent oversight and challenge to local authority decision-making processes Ensuring that children and young people are actively involved in decisions that affect their lives Monitoring and evaluating the quality of care provided to children in careEssential qualifications and skills:
Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England Significant experience working within children's services, including experience as an IRO or similar role Demonstrated knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to children in care Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals Strong analytical and decision-making skills, with a commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of children and young peopleAdditional requirements or benefits:
