Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a difference in the lives of children and families? Cardiff is seeking a qualified Children's Principal Social Worker to join our Multi-Agency Safeguarding Hub (MASH) team. This pivotal role will allow you to lead and support a dynamic team in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children in our community.

As a Children's Principal Social Worker, your key responsibilities will include:

Providing expert guidance and supervision to social workers within the MASH team. Leading assessments and interventions to ensure the safety and well-being of children. Collaborating with partner agencies to develop effective safeguarding strategies. Contributing to the continuous improvement of service delivery and practice standards. Engaging with families and children to promote their voices and ensure their needs are met.

To be successful in this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Current Social Work England registration. Substantial post-qualification experience in children's social work, particularly in safeguarding. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

The Role
As an allocated Social Worker within the MASH team, you will be responsible for completing timely and high‑quality assessments for children in need, including:
Children in need of protectionChildren looked afterChildren subject to public care proceedingsChildren involved in private law proceedings where directed by the Court
You will hold responsibility for the full statutory process, including assessment, planning, monitoring and review, ensuring outcomes are child‑focused and aligned with legislative and procedural requirements.
