Walsall Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Safeguarding Team. This pivotal role involves providing high-quality social work services to children and families in need, ensuring their safety and well-being. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to assess risk, develop intervention plans, and support vulnerable children and their families through challenging circumstances.

Key responsibilities include:

Conducting comprehensive assessments of children and families, identifying needs and risks. Developing and implementing effective safeguarding plans in line with statutory requirements. Providing supervision and support to junior staff and students, fostering their professional development. Engaging with families, community organizations, and other agencies to promote positive outcomes. Maintaining accurate case records and ensuring compliance with relevant policies and procedures.

The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. A minimum of three years’ post-qualification experience in child protection or safeguarding. Strong analytical and assessment skills, with the ability to make sound judgments. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to working in partnership with families.
