Walsall Council is seeking a Senior Lead Child Protection Practitioner to join our dedicated team. In this role, you will provide expert guidance and support to social work practitioners, ensuring the highest standards of child protection practice are maintained.
As a Senior Lead Child Protection Practitioner, your key responsibilities will include:
Leading and mentoring a team of social workers in child protection cases, promoting best practices and professional development. Conducting comprehensive assessments and developing robust child protection plans in collaboration with families and multi-agency partners. Providing expert advice on complex cases, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and local policies. Facilitating training sessions and workshops to enhance the skills and knowledge of team members. Monitoring and evaluating the effectiveness of interventions, making recommendations for improvements where necessary.The ideal candidate will possess essential qualifications and skills, including:
A recognized social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent). Significant experience in child protection and safeguarding, with a thorough understanding of relevant legislation and frameworks. Strong leadership and mentoring abilities, with a demonstrated capacity to inspire and develop others. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships with children, families, and professionals.
