We are seeking a qualified Adult Social Worker to join a dedicated team supporting adults across the Didcot area and wider Oxfordshire. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by promoting independence, wellbeing, choice and control for people who may require support due to age, disability, mental health needs or complex circumstances. You will manage a varied caseload, completing proportionate assessments, identifying eligible needs and working collaboratively with individuals, families and informal carers to develop personalised support plans.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking reviews, coordinating care and support, arranging appropriate services, and ensuring that people receive safe, effective and outcomes-focused assistance. You will work closely with health professionals, care providers, housing services, voluntary organisations and other partners to achieve positive outcomes. The role will also involve responding to safeguarding concerns, contributing to mental capacity assessments and best-interest decisions, and applying relevant legislation, policies and professional guidance. Accurate recording, effective risk management and timely completion of documentation will be essential, alongside the ability to prioritise competing demands and respond sensitively to changing circumstances.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with Social Work England. You should have experience working with adults in a statutory or community setting, with a sound understanding of strengths-based practice, safeguarding, risk assessment, mental capacity and social care legislation. We are looking for an organised, compassionate and resilient professional who can communicate clearly, make balanced decisions and build positive relationships with people from diverse backgrounds. You will be expected to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team, with a commitment to continuous professional development. A current driving licence and the ability to travel within the local area may be required.
