An experienced and qualified Social Work Team Manager is required to lead a Children with Disabilities (CWD) team supporting children, young people and their families. This is an opportunity to provide strong professional leadership while ensuring children receive safe, effective and child-centred services that promote their wellbeing, development and independence.
You will manage, support and develop a team of social workers and other professionals, allocating work appropriately and providing regular supervision, coaching and performance management. Responsibilities will include overseeing assessments, care planning, safeguarding enquiries, reviews and court-related work, ensuring that practice is evidence-based, legally compliant and completed to a high standard. You will work closely with children, parents and carers, as well as education, health, independent and voluntary-sector partners, to coordinate holistic support and achieve positive outcomes. The role will also involve monitoring caseloads, quality assurance, managing risk, contributing to service improvement and ensuring resources are used effectively.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with the relevant professional regulator, together with substantial post-qualifying experience in children's social care, ideally including work with children with disabilities. Previous experience of supervising or managing social work staff and a sound understanding of child protection, relevant legislation, statutory guidance and the needs of disabled children are essential. You should be confident making complex decisions, managing competing priorities and communicating effectively with families and partner agencies. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, participation, safeguarding and improving outcomes for children is required. A full driving licence and access to appropriate transport may be necessary, depending on service requirements.
