Are you a passionate and dedicated social worker looking to make a real difference in the lives of children and families? West Berkshire is seeking a qualified Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our Child Protection (CP) Team. This role is vital in ensuring that children in care receive the highest standard of advocacy and support to promote their welfare and well-being.

As a Children’s IRO, you will be responsible for overseeing and reviewing the care plans of children and young people in the local authority’s care. Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting regular reviews of care plans in line with statutory requirements. Ensuring that the voice of the child is heard and incorporated into decision-making processes. Collaborating with social workers, families, and other professionals to promote best practices. Monitoring the effectiveness of care plans and making recommendations for improvements. Providing guidance and support to children and their families during the review process.

To be considered for this position, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Significant experience in child protection and working with children in care. Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively engage with children, families, and professionals. Ability to analyze complex information and make informed decisions.

Join our dedicated Children's Social Work Team in West Berkshire as a Qualified Social Worker (SSW) within the Children in Care (CIC) Team. This is an exciting opportunity for passionate professionals who are committed to making a positive difference in the lives of children and families. You will play a pivotal role in safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, ensuring they receive the support and care they deserve.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting assessments and developing care plans for children in care. Working collaboratively with children, families, and multi-agency partners to deliver effective interventions. Managing a caseload of children in care, ensuring all statutory requirements are met. Participating in court proceedings and providing expert testimony when necessary. Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records in accordance with local and national guidelines.

To be successful in this role, you must possess:

A recognized social work qualification (BA/MA in Social Work or equivalent). Registered with Social Work England. Demonstrable experience in working with children and families, particularly within the Children in Care sector. Strong communication, interpersonal, and analytical skills. The ability to work independently and as part of a team, demonstrating resilience and adaptability.
