Hertfordshire County Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Senior Practitioner to join our Out of Hours Team within the Qualified Social Work field. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional who is committed to making a difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and families. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in ensuring that high-quality social care services are delivered during out-of-hours periods.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Providing expert guidance and support to social work staff during out-of-hours operations. Conducting assessments and making critical decisions regarding safeguarding and welfare of children and vulnerable adults. Collaborating with other agencies and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and support. Managing complex cases and providing supervision to junior staff, ensuring compliance with legal and procedural standards. Participating in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve service delivery.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, CQSW). Current registration with Social Work England. A minimum of 3 years post-qualifying experience in social work, preferably within a similar out-of-hours setting. Strong assessment and analytical skills, with the ability to make sound judgments under pressure. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to teamwork and collaboration.
