Join our dedicated Children's Social Work - Fostering Team in Devon, where your expertise can make a profound difference in the lives of vulnerable children and families. We are seeking a passionate and qualified Social Worker to support our fostering initiatives, ensuring that every child has a safe and nurturing environment. As a vital member of our team, you will work collaboratively with foster families and other professionals to promote the welfare and development of children in care.

Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting assessments and reviews of foster placements to ensure the best outcomes for children. Providing support and guidance to foster carers, including training and development opportunities. Developing and implementing care plans in partnership with children, families, and other stakeholders. Carrying out regular visits to foster homes to monitor the well-being of children and address any concerns. Engaging with children and young people to understand their needs and aspirations.

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following essential qualifications and skills:

A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., BA, MA in Social Work). Registration with Social Work England. Experience in children's social work, particularly within a fostering or adoption context. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families. A sound understanding of child development and safeguarding practices.

Location: Exeter, Plymouth & Truro
Pay: £36.00 - £37.75 per hour
Hours: 37 per week

Caritas Recruitment, on behalf of Cafcass, is looking for an experienced Children's Social Worker to join as an Agency Family Court Adviser (FCA) within the Private Law teams.

The Role

You will:

Carry out assessments and work directly with children to ensure their wishes and feelings are heard and represented in court.

Apply your expertise in risk assessment and mediation to support safe, child-focused outcomes.

Advocate for arrangements that prioritise the best interests of the child.

Manage a demanding caseload with independence, resilience, and strong organisational skills.

Requirements

Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.

Ideally 3+ years' experience in children & families social work.

Experience in Family Court proceedings and knowledge of Public Law.

Ability to work independently and manage competing priorities effectively.
