Cornwall Council is seeking qualified Social Workers to join their Children's Services, specifically within the Child Protection Teams. These teams are dedicated to safeguarding the welfare of vulnerable children and young people in Cornwall.Key Responsibilities:* Assess, monitor, and review the social care needs of children, their families, and carers, arranging appropriate care services as necessary.* Utilize specialist communication skills to gather comprehensive information, conducting full assessments of risks and protection needs.* Develop individual care plans based on assessed needs and risks, collaborating with other agencies to ensure child protection.* Manage an agreed caseload, offering support and guidance, and regularly reassessing care packages to ensure their effectiveness.* Work with children in need, those subject to Child Protection plans, and cases within the Public Law Outline (PLO) framework. About the Role:We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Children's Social Worker to join our Locality Team. This role involves working directly with children, young people, and their families to provide support, safeguard welfare, and improve outcomes. You will be responsible for managing a varied caseload, conducting assessments, and working collaboratively with multi-agency teams to implement care plans.Key Responsibilities:Conduct assessments of children and families under the Children Act 1989 and related legislation.Develop, implement, and review care plans tailored to the needs of children and families.Work in partnership with families, carers, and external agencies to ensure effective intervention.Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring statutory deadlines and best practice guidelines are met.Provide direct support, advice, and intervention to children and their families to promote stability and development.Lead on child protection and safeguarding cases, conducting risk assessments and ensuring timely interventions.Attend and contribute to case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings where required.Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records in line with local authority policies and regulatory standards.Requirements:Degree or equivalent qualification in Social Work (e.g., BA, MA, or DipSW).Registration with Social Work England.Proven experience in children's social work, particularly within a locality or frontline team.Strong understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant UK legislation.Ability to work effectively in a multi-agency environment.Excellent assessment, analytical, and decision-making skills.Ability to manage a demanding caseload while meeting statutory requirements.Strong written and verbal communication skills.Full UK driving license (desirable but not essential).
