We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Children's Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to join our dynamic team in Sefton. This role is crucial in providing support and advocacy for children affected by domestic violence, ensuring their safety and well-being. The ideal candidate will work collaboratively with families, schools, and other agencies to create a safe environment for children and empower them to overcome the challenges they face.
Key responsibilities include:
Providing direct support and advocacy to children and young people experiencing domestic violence. Conducting risk assessments and safety planning tailored to the unique needs of children. Facilitating access to relevant services, including counseling, education, and health support. Working closely with parents and guardians to ensure a holistic approach to support. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in line with safeguarding policies.Essential qualifications and skills include:
A relevant degree or professional qualification in social work, psychology, or a related field. Experience working with children and families, particularly in a domestic violence context. Strong understanding of child protection legislation and safeguarding practices. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships. Empathy and resilience, with a commitment to advocating for children's rights.Additional requirements for this position include a valid driving license and access to a vehicle, as travel within the community is essential. Role Overview:
As an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA), you will provide specialist support to high-risk victims and survivors of domestic violence and abuse. Working both remotely and on-site, you will undertake risk assessments, safety planning, and liaise with multi-agency partners to ensure the safety and well-being of those in your care.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct comprehensive risk assessments for high-risk domestic abuse cases.Develop and implement tailored safety and support plans.Work closely with law enforcement.Provide emotional support and practical assistance to survivors of domestic abuse.Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure their needs and safety are prioritized.Essential Requirements:
