An exciting opportunity is available for a qualified social worker to join a dedicated Youth Justice Team supporting children and young people involved in, or at risk of becoming involved in, the criminal justice system. Working in a child-centred and strengths-based way, you will help young people understand the impact of their choices, address underlying needs and achieve positive, lasting change. The role is based in Solihull and involves working collaboratively with children, families, schools, courts and partner agencies.
Your responsibilities will include undertaking assessments, preparing and reviewing plans, managing a varied caseload and delivering interventions that reduce reoffending and promote safety and wellbeing. You will contribute to pre-court and statutory work, attend relevant meetings and court hearings, prepare high-quality reports, and ensure that case records are accurate, timely and compliant with legislation and professional standards. You will also identify and respond to safeguarding concerns, assess risk, participate in multi-agency planning and advocate for the needs and rights of children and young people.
You will be a qualified social worker with current professional registration and relevant experience in children’s services, youth justice, safeguarding or a related setting. You should have sound knowledge of assessment, risk management, child development and the legal framework affecting children and young people. Excellent communication, organisation and report-writing skills are essential, along with the ability to build trusting relationships while maintaining clear professional boundaries. We are looking for someone resilient, reflective and committed to improving outcomes for vulnerable young people. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel between locations may be required. The successful applicant will be subject to appropriate safeguarding and background checks.
