An exciting opportunity is available for a Children’s Social Worker to join a Safeguarding Team in Birmingham. This role is suited to a qualified and experienced social work professional who is committed to improving outcomes for children and young people. You will manage a varied caseload involving children who may be at risk of significant harm, working in accordance with statutory guidance, safeguarding procedures and relevant legislation.
Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, developing effective care and protection plans, undertaking statutory visits and reviews, and responding appropriately to referrals and safeguarding concerns. You will work closely with children, families, schools, health professionals, police and other partner agencies to identify risks, strengthen family networks and promote positive outcomes. The role will also involve preparing reports for meetings and court proceedings, maintaining accurate case records, contributing to strategy discussions and child protection conferences, and ensuring that the child’s voice remains central to all decision-making.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. Significant post-qualification experience in children’s social care, safeguarding or child protection is required, along with a sound understanding of relevant legislation, assessment frameworks and risk management. You should be confident managing complex cases, making evidence-based decisions and working effectively under pressure. Strong communication, report-writing and partnership-working skills are essential, as is the ability to engage children and families with empathy, professionalism and cultural sensitivity. A valid driving licence and access to a vehicle may be required for visits. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated practitioner seeking to make a meaningful difference in the lives of children and families across Birmingham.
