The London Borough of Newham is seeking a dedicated and passionate Qualified Social Worker to join our Children’s Social Work - Family Support and Safeguarding Team. This role is pivotal in ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families within our community. As a key member of our team, you will work collaboratively with families, agencies, and other professionals to assess needs, implement interventions, and promote positive outcomes for children.
Your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting thorough assessments of children and families to identify risks and needs. Developing and implementing tailored support plans that promote child welfare and family resilience. Engaging with families to provide guidance, support, and advocacy throughout the safeguarding process. Collaborating with multi-agency partners to ensure a coordinated approach to safeguarding. Maintaining accurate records and documentation in accordance with statutory requirements and local policies. Participating in supervision and team meetings to reflect on practice and ensure continuous professional development.To be considered for this role, you must possess the following qualifications and skills:
A recognized social work qualification (Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent). Registration with Social Work England. Substantial experience in children’s social work, particularly in family support and safeguarding. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with children and families.
