We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a busy Court and Child Protection Team. This is an opportunity to work with children, young people and families where there are significant safeguarding concerns, providing skilled, child-focused social work that promotes safety, stability and positive outcomes. You will manage a varied caseload involving child protection enquiries, care proceedings, court-directed work and children who may require statutory intervention.
Your responsibilities will include completing high-quality assessments, identifying risk and protective factors, developing effective plans and reviewing progress in partnership with children, families and professionals. You will undertake statutory visits, contribute to strategy discussions and child protection conferences, prepare clear and analytical reports, and present evidence in court when required. You will work collaboratively with legal representatives, education, health, police and other agencies, ensuring that the child’s voice, wishes and feelings remain central to decision-making. You will also maintain accurate case records and meet relevant legislation, policies, procedures and timescales.
Applicants must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and be registered with the appropriate professional regulator. Previous experience in children’s social care, child protection, court work or care proceedings is essential, together with a sound understanding of safeguarding legislation, assessment frameworks and evidence-based practice. You will need strong communication, organisation and report-writing skills, confidence in professional challenge, and the ability to make balanced decisions in complex and sensitive situations. A commitment to anti-discriminatory practice, partnership working and improving outcomes for children is essential. A valid driving licence and access to transport may be required for undertaking visits. In return, you will receive the opportunity to contribute to meaningful work within a supportive, multi-disciplinary environment.
