We are seeking a qualified Children’s Social Worker to join a dedicated Fostering Team supporting children and foster families across the local area. This is an opportunity to make a meaningful difference by helping children achieve safety, stability and positive long-term outcomes. You will work with prospective and approved foster carers, children in care and their wider networks, providing high-quality social work practice throughout the fostering journey.

Your responsibilities will include completing fostering assessments, producing clear and analytical reports, undertaking statutory visits and reviews, and providing ongoing supervision and support to foster carers. You will contribute to care planning, placement stability and safeguarding arrangements, ensuring that children’s needs, wishes and feelings remain central to all decisions. You will work closely with colleagues in children’s services, education, health and other partner agencies, participate in meetings and panels, and respond appropriately to concerns, allegations or changes in placement circumstances. Accurate, timely case recording and compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, policies and professional standards will be essential.

You must hold a recognised Social Work qualification and current registration with Social Work England. The successful candidate will have experience of working with children, young people and families, ideally within fostering, looked-after children or child protection services. You will demonstrate sound knowledge of safeguarding, attachment, trauma-informed practice and relevant fostering legislation. Strong assessment, report-writing, communication and organisational skills are required, together with the ability to manage a varied caseload and work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team. A commitment to equality, inclusion, reflective practice and continuous professional development is essential. A valid driving licence and the ability to travel for visits and meetings may be required.
