Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of children and young people? Bracknell Forest Council is seeking a dedicated and experienced Children’s Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our dynamic team in the Qualified Social Work field. This is an exciting opportunity to ensure that children in care receive the best possible outcomes through effective and robust reviews of their care plans.

As a Children’s IRO, you will be responsible for chairing reviews for children and young people in care, ensuring their voices are heard and their needs are met. You will work collaboratively with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to monitor and evaluate care plans, ensuring compliance with statutory requirements and best practices. Your key responsibilities will include:

Conducting regular reviews and assessments of children’s care plans. Ensuring that children and young people are actively involved in their reviews. Providing feedback and recommendations to improve service delivery. Monitoring the implementation of care plans and safeguarding procedures. Building strong relationships with children, families, and multi-agency partners.

The ideal candidate will possess a relevant social work qualification (e.g., CQSW, DipSW, or equivalent) and be registered with Social Work England. You should have a solid understanding of child development, safeguarding procedures, and the legal framework surrounding children in care. Essential skills include:

Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Strong analytical and decision-making abilities. Experience in working with children and families in a social work context. Ability to manage complex situations and work under pressure.
