Are you a passionate and experienced Social Worker looking to make a significant impact in the lives of young people transitioning into adulthood? Barnsley Council is seeking a dedicated Senior Social Worker to join our Preparation for Adulthood Team. In this role, you will support young individuals with disabilities and additional needs as they navigate the challenges of moving into adulthood, ensuring they receive the guidance and resources necessary for a successful transition.
As a Senior Social Worker, your key responsibilities will include:
Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify the needs and aspirations of young people and their families. Developing and implementing personalized support plans that promote independence and enhance life skills. Collaborating with multi-agency teams to coordinate services and ensure a holistic approach to support. Providing expert advice and mentoring to junior staff and trainees within the team. Engaging with external stakeholders, including education providers and health services, to facilitate a smooth transition to adulthood.The ideal candidate will possess the following essential qualifications and skills:
A recognized Social Work qualification (e.g., BA, MA in Social Work or equivalent). Current registration with Social Work England. Significant experience working with young people, particularly in a transition or preparation for adulthood context. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in social work.
