About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced and dedicated Family Court Adviser (FCA) to join CAFCASS on a locum basis, covering the Derby region. In this pivotal role, you will provide advanced social work services to children, families, and the courts by assessing and analysing applications for any child protection and serious welfare concerns.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct high-quality assessments and provide analysis to the court on the needs and best interests of children involved in family proceedings.

  • Engage directly with children and families to gather their wishes and feelings, ensuring their voices are heard in the court process.

  • Collaborate with professionals from various agencies to inform assessments and recommendations.

  • Prepare and present clear, evidence-based reports to the court, including Section 7 and Rule 16.4 reports.

  • Advocate for the child's welfare throughout the court proceedings, ensuring timely and appropriate interventions.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.

  • Minimum of 3 years' post-qualifying experience in children's social work, with a strong background in safeguarding and court work.

  • Proven ability to work autonomously, manage caseloads effectively, and meet strict deadlines.

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills, with the ability to produce high-quality written reports.

  • Familiarity with CAFCASS policies and procedures is desirable.
