We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Social Worker to join our Fostering Team in Barnet as a Senior Social Worker/Advanced Practitioner. In this role, you will play a crucial part in supporting and assessing foster carers to provide safe and nurturing environments for children in need.

Key responsibilities and duties include:

Undertaking assessments of prospective foster carers to ensure they meet the necessary standards and can provide a stable and caring environment for children. Providing ongoing support, guidance, and supervision to foster carers to help them develop their skills and capabilities in caring for children in the foster system. Working collaboratively with other professionals, including social workers, health professionals, and educators, to ensure the holistic well-being of children in foster care. Participating in case conferences, reviews, and court proceedings as required, advocating for the best interests of the children under your care. Contributing to the continuous improvement of the fostering service through feedback, training, and sharing best practices with colleagues.

Essential qualifications and skills:

Qualified Social Worker with a recognized social work qualification and HCPC registration. Demonstrable experience in working within a fostering team, conducting assessments, and providing support to foster carers. Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to fostering and child protection. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse individuals and work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team. Ability to manage a complex caseload, prioritize tasks, and make sound decisions under pressure.

Additional requirements or benefits:

Experience in using relevant social work systems and tools, such as Liquidlogic, would be advantageous. About the Role:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Social Worker to join our Child in Need (CIN) of Support & Protection team. This role focuses on ensuring the safety, wellbeing, and positive outcomes for children and families by providing comprehensive social work support and intervention.

As a Social Worker within this team, you will assess, plan, and implement child-centered support plans while working collaboratively with families, multi-agency professionals, and the wider social care network.

Key Responsibilities:Undertake assessments under the Children Act 1989, ensuring a child-focused approach to decision-making.Develop and implement tailored care and support plans for children identified as being in need of protection or intervention.Work closely with children, families, and partner agencies to promote safeguarding and positive outcomes.Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring compliance with statutory regulations and best practices.Conduct Child and Family Assessments and Section 47 investigations where necessary.Prepare detailed reports and attend court proceedings when required.Participate in multi-agency meetings, child protection conferences, and strategy discussions.Support children on CIN and Child Protection Plans, ensuring their needs are met effectively.Advocate for children's rights and wellbeing, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making.Maintain accurate, up-to-date case records in line with local authority and legislative requirements.Requirements:Qualified Social Worker (Degree or Masters in Social Work) and Social Work England registration.Experience working with children and families within a safeguarding or CIN environment.Strong knowledge of UK social work legislation, policies, and frameworks, including the Children Act 1989 & 2004, Working Together to Safeguard Children (2018), and Signs of Safety model.Excellent assessment, analytical, and report-writing skills.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to build positive relationships with children, families, and professionals.Ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations and manage competing priorities.A commitment to continuous professional development and reflective practice.Driving license and access to a vehicle (preferred but not essential, depending on location).
