Torbay Council is seeking qualified Social Workers to join their Children's Services, specifically within the Specialist Services teams, which include the Children with Disabilities and Children Looked After Teams. These teams are dedicated to supporting children and young people with disabilities, ensuring their well-being and promoting positive outcomes.

Key Responsibilities:

* Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and young people's needs, including those with disabilities, to develop and implement effective care plans.

* Initiate appropriate safeguarding actions to protect children and young people at risk of significant harm.

* Manage a diverse caseload, ensuring that children, young people, and their families receive appropriate support and services.

* Collaborate with families, caregivers, and other professionals to provide holistic support tailored to each child's unique needs.

* Participate in regular reviews and assessments to monitor progress and adapt care plans as necessary.

Requirements:

* Degree in Social Work (e.g., Dip SW, CQSW, CSS) or equivalent.

* Registration with Social Work England.

* Proven experience in a social care environment, particularly working with children with disabilities and their families.

* Strong understanding of child development, attachment theory, and the impact of trauma on children and young people.

* Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build effective relationships with children, families, and professionals.

* Ability to work collaboratively within a multi-agency framework to deliver comprehensive support.

To be considered, it is essential that you have a recognised Social Work qualification (Social Work Degree or Diploma in Social Work) and full Social Work England registration as well as recent or significant relevant experience in a similar role.

We are seeking experienced Supervising Social Worker for our North Devon. The service is responsible for the support, advice, and supervision of foster carers to ensure safe and thriving placements, undertaken with appropriate regard to National Minimum Standards for Fostering, Fostering Services (England) Regulations 2011, and any other relevant legislation

You will participate in unannounced visits, annual reviews, and quality assurance. You will assist in the delivery of training to prospective and existing foster carers.

You will champion high standards of professional social work practice and have sound knowledge in fostering regulations and legal options available to children to be cared for by persons within their network.

Skills & Experience

- A social work qualification and registration with Social Work England

- Satisfactory completion your Assessed and Supported Year in Employment (ASYE)

- Robust post qualifying social work experience within children and families

- Exceptional communication and relationship skills

- A sound knowledge of fostering regulations and legislation.

- Experience of working within Fostering and/or demonstration of transferrable skills from another current or previous role.

- Exceptional time-management, recording and planning skills

- A willingness to work across the whole of the South Fostering area.

Social Workers need to be available to cover their allocations and visit children as necessary to meet service needs. There may be occasions when home-working will be permitted which can be discussed at interview.

*Please note this vacancy is subject to the London Agency Worker Pledge Agreement which stipulates:-

Permanently employed Social Workers are restricted from undertaking an agency role with a London Pledge Borough for a 6-month period following departure (if leaving perm role with London Authority, they cannot move to an agency role with another London Authority for 6 months)3 weeks' notice period may be required (at discretion of manager/council)Agency workers must have complete 2 years post AYSE (3 years PQ total), before they can be considered for agency roles within London
