Lambeth - AMHP - EDT (Children's experience)

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) with Children's experience to join our Lambeth Emergency Duty Team (EDT). In this role, you will play a crucial part in providing emergency mental health assessments and interventions for children and young people in crisis situations.

Key responsibilities and duties:

  • Conducting mental health assessments and risk assessments for children and young people in crisis situations.
  • Providing immediate support and interventions to safeguard the well-being of children and young people experiencing mental health crises.
  • Collaborating with other professionals, including social workers, healthcare providers, and law enforcement, to ensure comprehensive care and support for children and young people in crisis.
  • Participating in multi-agency meetings and case conferences to develop and implement care plans that address the mental health needs of children and young people.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and care plans in accordance with legal and professional standards.

Essential qualifications and skills:

  • Qualified Social Worker with current registration with Social Work England.
  • Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP) qualification.
  • Demonstrated experience working with children and young people in crisis situations, preferably within a mental health setting.
  • Strong understanding of relevant legislation, including the Mental Health Act and Children Act, and its application in practice.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in high-pressure situations.
