Are you passionate about advocating for children's rights and ensuring their voices are heard? Bracknell is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Children's Independent Reviewing Officer (IRO) to join our team on a part-time basis. This role is pivotal in overseeing the care and support of children in the local authority, ensuring that their needs and wishes are prioritized in all decision-making processes.

As a Children's IRO, you will be responsible for:

  • Conducting independent reviews of care plans for looked-after children and young people.
  • Ensuring that children’s views, wishes, and feelings are effectively represented and considered.
  • Monitoring the implementation of care plans and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Collaborating with social workers, foster carers, and other professionals to promote the best outcomes for children.
  • Providing advice and support to children and families regarding their rights and entitlements.

The ideal candidate will possess the following qualifications and skills:

  • A recognized social work qualification (e.g., Degree in Social Work, DipSW, or equivalent).
  • Registration with Social Work England.
  • Experience in children's social care, particularly in roles involving advocacy or reviewing.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with an ability to engage effectively with children and families.
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple cases simultaneously.
