Cardiff have redesigned their teams into three areas of the City, St Mellons in the East, Fairwater in the North and Cardiff Bay in the South enabling staff to be based within the communities that they serve. This new model offers benefits not only to Children and their families but also to staff including reduced travelling time and expense. The offices support good team morale where staff feel comfortable can link with colleagues and engage with each other in peer reflection. The operational managers are based directly with the teams of the service area ensuring strong links between staff at all levels of the service.

At present, the teams are working like every other team in Children?s Services. If statutory visits are required, the worker needs to undertake them (for examples, if the child is Looked After, Child Protection their visits are between every 10 working days up to once every 6 weeks). With visits, generally we would agree to remote working BUT, once the lockdown is over, we would require them to undertake face to face visits as and where possible and they should be at least every 6 weeks.

Within the team's geographical area you will support children and young people through robust assessment, SMART planning and effective intervention to support them in achieving positive outcomes within their families and communities. Working within a restorative practice approach, you will work in partnership with families and multi-agency colleagues in intervening to address both the presenting concerns and underlying difficulties.

We have a diverse variety of casework, individual, dedicated and regular senior management support alongside progression opportunities for the successful candidates.

The successful candidate MUST have ROBUST SAFEGUARDING, CHILD PROTECTION experience and be confident with COURT PROCEEDINGS. As a child protection social worker, you must be flexible and able to work under pressure. Due to the nature of the role candidates must have front line post qualifying experience in child protection services.
We require competent Social Workers, We require social workers able and experienced of undertaking court work. Candidate must have experience in working in Childrens services. Candidate must have at least 3 years? post qualifying experience. Candidate must have worked in LAC before.

Candidates MUST have experience in Court work.
